Bury St Edmunds is a delightful market town well known as being the hub of East Anglia being located on the A14 corridor within easy reach of Ipswich - 26 miles, the cathedral city of Norwich - 42 miles, the university city of Cambridge - 28 miles, as well as Newmarket (the headquarters of British flat racing) - 14 miles, Thetford - 12 miles and Sudbury - 16 miles. Additionally, the attractive resorts on the Suffolk heritage coast in the shape of Southwold and Aldeburgh are within an hour's driving distance. The historic medieval township of Lavenham is within 10 miles being a similar distance.

There are a number of golf courses in the area, including two in Bury St Edmunds and attractive nine hole courses at Flempton and historic Royal Worlington which is only 12 miles distant.

The Suffolk heritage coast with the famous resorts of Southwold and Aldeburgh, the latter with its strong association with Benjamin Britten, the famous composer, are within an hour's drive.

Racing is available in Newmarket and there are many fine walks abounding in the area, the picnic areas in the Breckland Forest being within a short drive.

Shopping facilities are well catered for in Bury St Edmunds with a wider range of shops available in the major centres of Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich.

Major football clubs are situated in both Norwich and Ipswich whilst sailing facilities are available on the Orwell and Deben estuaries which again are within easy reach.

In short the area has just about everything including a wide range of quality pubs and restaurants for those who enjoy eating out.
